Cyndi Lauper hits the road

Less than 12 hours after winning this year’s Tony Award for best score of a musical, first time Broadway composer/lyricist Cyndi Lauper is on her way to the airport.

Lauper, 59, is bound for Las Vegas to do a promotional gig for her show, Kinky Boots, which collected six Tonys in all, including best musical. Has the glow worn off yet? “It was great fun, but I’m really tired,” she says.

Relaxation has not been a priority for Messi 10 pelipaidat Lauper of late. Before launching Boots, she starred in a reality show for WE, Still So Unusual; on Wednesday, the pop veteran will be in Lewandowski 9 pelipaidat San Diego, launching a 23 date tour commemorating the 30th anniversary of the breakthrough album that TV title alluded to, She’s So Unusual.

“I’ve never really sung the whole album (in concert), top to bottom, but I wanted to give something back James Rodríguez 10 pelipaidat to my fans,” Lauper says. She’ll be adding additional songs as well, possibly Boots tunes. “But it depends I don’t want to be tied to anything.”

Though Lauper was widely considered a favorite for the Tony, she went to Radio City Music Hall on Sunday with no expectations, she insists. “A long time ago I had seven Grammy Award nominations. Everyone was predicting how well I’d do, but I didn’t. You can never say.”

Lauper intends to write another musical eventually, and “would love to work with Harvey” Fierstein, Götze 19 pelipaidat Boots’ librettist, again. “But after I do the tour I’m going to chill for a little bit.” Her only concrete plans, in fact, are spending more time with her husband and teenage son. “I feel like I’ve neglected them, and they’ve been really patient.”

As for the Tony, she’ll bring it on the road at least in spirit.

“I think my fans, all those girls with sunglasses on, feel like they won, too,” she says. “I’m just thrilled to be part of a show that has made so many people happy.”
